Albany and Schoharie Social Security Office
Provides health insurance coverage to people 65 years of age or older, people who have drawn Social Security benefits on account of disability for at least 24 consecutive months, and insured workers and their dependents who need dialysis treatment or a kidney transplant because of chronic kidney disease. Provides new or replacement social security numbers and/or cards.
Pays benefits to disabled workers under Full Retirement Age (65 to 67), and to their dependents. Benefits are paid to survivors of insured workers - widows or widowers at age 60 or later, widows/widowers at any age who have in their care entitled children under age 16 or disabled and disabled widows between ages 50 and 60 meeting disability-related requirement.
Makes monthly payments to disabled adults and children who have limited income and resources. Benefits are payable to people ages 65 years and older without disabilities.
Also, connects individuals receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and/or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits with free employment services. Services include career counseling, vocational rehabilitation, and job placement and training.
