The Environmental Health unit is responsible for investigation of all domestic and wild animal bites for the prevention of rabies. Bite investigations include proper follow-up and quarantine and/or euthanasia of suspect animals to prevent the transmission of rabies to humans. The program also administers quarterly vaccination clinics for cats dogs and ferrets.
The Rabies Prevention Program has someone on duty 24 hours a day, every day of the year. This program investigates and monitors all suspect or confirmed rabies cases. Low cost dog-cat-ferret vaccination clinics are held throughout the county to protect pets.
