Rabies Investigations
The Environmental Health unit is responsible for investigation of all domestic and wild animal bites for the prevention of rabies. Bite investigations include proper follow-up and quarantine and/or euthanasia of suspect animals to prevent the transmission of rabies to humans. The program also administers quarterly vaccination clinics for cats dogs and ferrets.

Schenectady County residents with an animal bite, scratch, exposure to or contact with the mucous membranes of a suspect animal
