Book Project

Offers books to the community to promote literacy program and encourage children and adults to read. Collaborates with local schools, agencies and organizations to distribute books. Accepts gently used books from individual donors and community collection drives.

Accepts household items including kitchenware, small kitchen appliances, linens, winter coats and boots, baby clothing, some furniture, children’s books and books for English learners and dictionaries as well as gift cards to grocery and department stores. Unable to receive: televisions, furniture, washing machines or dryers, stoves, decorative items, clothing and books not listed.

Provides traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, along with clothing and toys for Christmas.

Offers clothing, and household items at minimal cost to those who shop at the store.

Mentoring Program

Recruits, screens, trains and supports community members who are matched with identified at-risk youth for at least one year. Program participants make a significant commitment of time and energy to develop relationships devoted to personal, academic or career development, and social, athletic or artistic growth. Offers comprehensive services to the at-risk youth’s family.

Page by Page

Page by Page is a teen-driven literacy program involving teens reading to younger children in parks, pools, meal sites, and day care programs throughout the county. Free training is provided in June. The program accepts donations of children’s books.
