Rabies Investigations

The Environmental Health unit is responsible for investigation of all domestic and wild animal bites for the prevention of rabies. Bite investigations include proper follow-up and quarantine and/or euthanasia of suspect animals to prevent the transmission of rabies to humans. The program also administers quarterly vaccination clinics for cats dogs and ferrets.

The Rabies Prevention Program has someone on duty 24 hours a day, every day of the year. This program investigates and monitors all suspect or confirmed rabies cases. Residential Lead Inspection

The Residential Lead Inspection unit is responsible for conducting environmental lead assessments at residential housing units. Assessments are done at homes that have children with elevated blood lead levels. Program issues “Notice of Demand” to remediate lead problems within these homes. Residential lead inspections are also done on a “request” basis as a fee-based service.
